6/10/2008 Interview with Quincy McCrary (vocals & keyboard) by Jeff Koral
JK: How long was your spring tour this year?
QM: In total the spring tour was seven weeks, March 12-May 5.

JK: What do you do to pass time on tour while you have down time?
QM: Being on the road can be tough at times, I found it good for myself to have reading material such as The Power of Now and the Narrative of Fredrik Douglas.

JK: What was your most memorable event at Jazz Fest ?
QM: My most memorable moment at the NO Jazz Fest came before we played a single note. There was a sea of people just waiting to experience for themselves the sounds that would emerge from the stage.

JK: What venue did you enjoy the most?
WA: The new orleans jazzfest was the highlight for me. Besides opening up for Santana and the Nevilles, we got to hear loads of great new orleans music and eat some tasty delights.

JK: What kind of things do you do on your days off on the east coast?
WA: On one of our days off in philly, Emerson and I went to the DR String factory in Jersey and took a tour of the factory with Emersons rep Rosa and met with the owner of DR String factory, that was cool.

JK: What things do you remember about playing for your fans in New York?
WA: New York was a great show. We opened up for Perpetual Groove and it was all ages, so the fans were more enthusiastic and willing to show up early to see the lil' ol' opening band...

JK: I read a fans comment about your show in Toronto, Canada at Lee's Palace, it sounds like they really enjoyed your show, How did you like the crowed in another country, is it like playing for the fans in the States?
WA: The Canadi

New York City is always an exciting place to visit. It’s our country’s cultural center on the east coast and offers resources unavailable anywhere else. Performing here has always been an event to look forward to, and our performance at the Highline Ballroom leaves me with unforgettable memories. This time we opened for Perpetual Groove from Athens, Georgia.

This show stuck out as a learning experience, more than the rest. The reasons being as I mentioned before NYC being the great city it is, I myself had a climactic day. The fans reflect the pulse of their city with eagerness and intensity to have a good time. As far as my day in New York, my eagerness and excitement for bass playing started off visiting my good friend Dave Avenius at Aguilar Amplification. I personally have two concert rigs by Aguilar Amplification and visiting their facility is similar to taking your car to the shop to add the latest in high performance parts. While my amp was being serviced, Dave took me to SoHo for lunch w
